Our weekend syllabus blends the Safar Academy curriculum with our own enriched learning materials. It’s designed to help every child understand, love, and live Islam with confidence. Each area can be explored below — simply click to expand and learn more.
Children begin their journey by learning to recognise Arabic letters and pronounce them correctly. As they advance, they gradually build fluency until they can confidently read full Arabic sentences, including verses from the Qur’an. This firm foundation prepares them for fluent Qur’anic recitation.
Pupils are taught to recite the Qur’an fluently while applying the correct Tajweed rules. Through regular practice and support, they develop precision and clarity, building confidence to recite from any part of the Qur’an with excellence.
Our Hifz programme begins with Juz 30 and progresses steadily. Each learner memorises new verses alongside consistent revision of earlier lessons, with the goal of producing confident Huffaaz who live by the Qur’an’s teachings.
Guided by qualified Arabic-speaking teachers, pupils learn to read, write, and converse in Arabic. Using the Al-Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk curriculum, lessons build confidence in understanding Islamic texts and connecting with the wider Muslim world.
Children learn essential daily Duas and short Surahs from the Qur’an. These include supplications for prayer, daily life, and special occasions, nurturing a habit of remembrance (Dhikr) and gratitude to Allah.
Lessons cover Aqeedah (belief), Fiqh (Islamic rulings), Seerah (the Prophet’s life), Stories of the Prophets, and practical worship demonstrations. Our approach nurtures moral character, confidence, and a strong Islamic identity.

Our journey and purpose
Madina Weekend Madrasa operates under Madina Jame Masjid — the first mosque established in the Isle of Dogs in 1994. For over three decades, our masjid has been a beacon of learning, prayer, and community spirit. The weekend madrasa continues this legacy by nurturing the next generation of Muslims with faith, knowledge, and character.
We inspire love for Allah ﷻ and His Messenger ﷺ, nurturing Imaan (faith) through practice, sincerity, and reflection.
Our structured curriculum develops Qur’anic fluency, understanding, and critical thinking, empowering pupils to apply Islamic knowledge confidently.
We place strong emphasis on manners, respect, and empathy — shaping students to be ambassadors of Islam in their communities.
Established in 1994, Madina Jame Masjid is a cornerstone of the Isle of Dogs Muslim community. It hosts daily congregational prayers, classes, nikah services, and community events. The masjid’s ethos is grounded in unity, learning, and compassion.
Launched in May 2021, the madrasa serves local families by offering structured weekend Islamic education. Our goal is to build a generation of confident young Muslims who live by Islamic values and contribute positively to society.
Small class sizes for boys and girls ensure personal attention and steady progress in both faith and academics.
Eid celebrations bring our students and families together in joy, reflection, and gratitude — strengthening community bonds.
The Student of the Month award recognises excellence and good character, motivating pupils to strive for their best.
